Dent removal and paintless dent removal (PDR) are two different services. Paintless dent removal can be performed when there has been no damage to the paintwork of your vehicle and the goal of PDR is to repair and return the panel to its original state, whilst preserving the original paint. Dent removal uses many of the same techniques as PDR, however the aim of dent removal is to return the panel to its original shape or in some cases, as close to its original shape as possible. It may also be used as part of a special project. Minimising the need for fillers is part of what makes push for paint dent removal advantageous when preparing bodywork for paint. Fillers are used to smooth out imperfections in a car’s body before painting and when used in smaller quantities and applied correctly, they can help to improve the finish of any paint job. The drawback to excessive use of fillers, when applied to larger deeper areas can include possible poor adhesion, cracking, shrinkage and difficulty blending to a smooth finish.
